We are proud to offer our customers
the best of the international wine world

Bruno Dalmazio

In 1888, Brunello di Montalcino wine was created. A century later, Enoteca bd was established. For twenty five years, our passion for what we do has made every moment spent in this old workshop, built last century and surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, just outside the walls of Montalcino, completely authentic.
Enoteca Bruno Dalmazio hosts an accurate selection of Italian and French wines. The strong link with the Tuscan territory is reflected in a wide variety of products from the Montalcino area.

Bd is the reference for all professionals and lovers of high-quality wine and agricultural food products, in terms of:
- variety

- service

- selection

- reliability

In the luminous room next to the shop, it is possible to enjoy a variety of wines by the glass. Enoteca bd has always worked with restaurants, too, creating customised wine lists and guaranteeing the availability of even the most special labels. It also distributes specialities from the food, accessories and spirits departments.

Montalcino: between history,
art and natural beauties

The fortress of Montalcino, on a high level position (564 mt), has Etruscan origins and during the Middle Ages Siena and Firenze made it a matter of dispute and rivalled each other because of its strategic position between the Maremma and the internal valleys. Entered in the Sienese sphere of influence, after the battle of Montaperti, fought by the Sienese and the Florentine in 1260, Montalcino remained the last bastion of the Republic of Siena and was annexed to the grand duchy of Tuscany in 1559.

Signs of military vocation in the area are the Fortress of 1300 and the slender tower of the municipal building, almost a lookout tower: the views and the foreshortenings between the alleys of the centre make Montalcino one of the most suggestive burghs of the whole Tuscany. In the splendid Civic and Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art in the ex St. Augustine convent, it is possible to admire paintings and sculptures of the Sienese school (Simone Martini, Ambrogio Lorenzetti, Francesco di Valdambrino).

9 Km away from Montalcino, following the direction Castelnuovo dell’Abate, rises the amazing Abbey of Sant’Antimo, Romanesque masterpiece of the XI century.

A trip through the hills
and the Brunello vineyards

The labour of men on this land has always been carried out with the most absolute respect of the environment; this makes the territory of Montalcino a kind of unaltered monument despite the world-wide fame of the product of its cultivation. Even though Brunello is a relatively new wine, born at the end of 1800, it is already from the beginning of the XIII century, in fact, that some documents witness the deep viticulture vocation of the area.

The fame of this important wine, started in the former century during the thirties, broke out in the sixties when D.O.C. was conferred on Brunello. One of the most rigorous disciplinaries , tutored by the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino, has allowed Brunello to become, in 1980, the first Italian wine to obtain the appellation D.O.C.G..

Brunello takes differet characteristics depending on the area in which the vine sangiovese grosso is grown, exclusively delimitated by the boundaries of the municipality of Montalcino. These differences are so clear that nowadays it is possible to speak about different kinds of Brunello: it is therefore up to the consumer to select the Brunello di Montalcino suiting best personal tastes and expectations.
